Our Pathways Program

Support when a family member is living with an advanced serious illness

Dougy Center's Pathways program offers peer support groups for children, teens, and their adults when a family member is living with an advanced serious illness, with a prognosis of three months to three years. Pathways consists of peer support groups for children, groups for teens, groups for adult caregivers, and groups for the adults diagnosed with an advanced serious illness. All groups meet at the same time so families can come together. Groups are ongoing and you can join any time.

Common Questions

When someone is diagnosed with an advanced serious illness, it can feel like no one understands what you’re going through. Life is changing in every way, the future is uncertain, and everything can feel overwhelming.

While everyone’s experience is unique, participants tell us how helpful it is to be with people who are on a similar path. Through playing, talking, and listening, you and your family will find understanding, connection, and community.
