What happens in a peer grief support group?
Peer grief support groups are a safe space. Members choose to participate. Groups for children and teens involve discussion, play, and activities for expressing grief in a supportive group environment. Adult groups offer facilitated conversations about life after a death and supporting others who are grieving.
How do I join a group at Dougy Center?

Our staff will answer any questions, can direct you to resources, and discuss whether our groups are a good fit for you.
If you are interested in a particular group, we will help you to schedule an orientation.
How frequently do groups meet? How long is a group session?
Groups meet for 1.5 hours every other week (biweekly) on an ongoing basis.
How long can we participate in a group?
Our groups are open-ended which means that participants can attend for as long as is helpful in their grief process. If you are having trouble deciding whether you are ready to close from your group, our Group Coordinators are more than happy to have a conversation with you about things to consider for your family.
