Frequently Asked Questions
I applied but there aren’t training spots available. How do I get a spot?
We make decisions about training spots based on a number of factors including a) our group needs, b) potential volunteers’ availability (days/times/location), and c) the order in which applications come in. We also factor in how responsive applicants are to emails and phone calls.
What are the requirements to become a volunteer?
We ask volunteers to complete a 2-day training and a group observation. You will need to pass a criminal background check.
What is the time commitment to be a volunteer?
We ask volunteer facilitators to make a minimum commitment of one year. Groups meet for 3.5 hours every other week. Administrative and Event volunteers have more flexibility.
Is there a deadline to apply to become a volunteer facilitator?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We offer spots to eligible applicants approximately two months before facilitator training begins. We base the invitation on our current needs, your availability to attend, and the flexibility of your schedule.
