Here’s a Valentine’s Day activity to help grieving children, teens and adults share feelings and memories about the person who died.

Materials you will need:
- red and white paper
- markers
- crayons
- scissors
- heart stickers or other decorations

The activity
- Share memories about the person who died and how your family celebrates Valentine’s Day.
- Create a special valentine you wish you could have given to the person who died.
- Talk about your valentines and what makes them, and the person who died, special.
- You can display the valentines near the person’s picture or in a special memory book.

Lincoln Crockett Concert to benefit The Dougy Center

Join Lincoln Crockett & Enemies with special guest Chris Kokesh for an evening of music to benefit The Dougy Center and Grief Watch. The concert is Saturday February 18, 7 p.m., at The Old Church (1422 SW 11th Ave. in Portland)

In February 2011, local songwriter and performer Lincoln Crockett and his wife Alicia lost their baby, Joseph Phoenix, shortly after childbirth. As they and their four-year-old son grieved they were buoyed by friends and family who introduced the family to two priceless resources: Grief Watch and The Dougy Center.

The show will be headlined by Lincoln Crockett & Enemies, a fusion of Lincoln’s acoustic and electric roots all in one vibrant band. Award winning singer/songwriter Chris Kokesh and Lincoln Crockett’s popular and dynamic duo will be opening the night. These two don’t get together very often so don’t miss your chance to witness the magic!

Save the Date: The Reflection Benefit is May 12th

Celebrate 30 years of The Dougy Center at the 2012 Benefit Gala, “Reflection,” Saturday May 12th at The Governor Hotel in downtown Portland.

Enjoy fabulous food and unique auction packages while helping grieving children in our community. The event is expected to raise more than $500,000 for support programs to help children, teens, young adults and their families who are grieving a death.

Tickets for The Dougy Center Gala are $175 per person or $1,500 for a table of ten, and are available online or by calling 503-775-5683.

The event will culminate with the drawing of the winning ticket for a 2012 Porsche Boxster (see information above).
