Help for Young Adults
The Young Adult Group is open to people ages 19 – 30ish who have experienced a significant death. Based on a peer support group model, the group is an opportunity to meet with other people who are dealing with the vast and at times overwhelming range of reactions we can experience after a death. In a safe, non judgmental environment, people are invited to share their personal experiences with grief, ask questions of the group, and provide support for the other participants. We have a series of guidelines, including our commitment to protecting confidentiality and refraining from giving advice, which help maintain the open and accepting atmosphere.
We also offer a concurrent Family and Friends of Young Adults Group that is open to anyone important in the lives of the participants (parents, partners, close friends, roommates, and other relatives). The groups are ongoing and meet every other week for 1.5 hours in the evening.
